The Oceans’ trilogy spin-off "Ocean’s 8" will film at the former site of Arthur Kill Correctional Facility on Staten Island this Saturday, Borough President James Oddo announced on Friday.
The blockbuster film is an all-female follow to the franchise’s last movie "Ocean’s 13" and stars Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna and more. Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and hip-hop artist Awkwafina are among the other women featured in a promo shot for the film.
Guest stars Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner are also set to appear in a Met Gala-inspired scene for the flick.
"Ocean’s 8" is set to hit theaters on June 8, 2018.
Production company Broadway Stages is working to acquire the property from the state in order to film steadily shoot at the location, which was closed down in 2011.
“Ocean’s 8” will film at the now-closed Arthur Kill Correctional Facility this weekend.
In addition to the major motion picture, a Netflix series titled "Seven Seconds" will also be filming on the property, as well a crime drama based on the Russian film "The Major."
Over the years the facility has been used by hit shows like "Blindspot," "The Americans," "Quantico," "The Blacklist" and more.
"The fact that major film and TV productions like Ocean’s 8 are filming on the Arthur Kill property, before the site is even acquired by Broadway Stages, demonstrates how popular this location will be as a future film studio," Oddo said in a release.
"The facility is located on the West Shore waterfront of Staten Island, in an area that I call the ‘Jobs Coast,’ which is ideally suited for commercial activity.
